I love the writing. I really do. It's technically proficient and evocative.

What I don't like is how Kestral is written about. She's so perfect even when she's having a tough time. She's so beautifully tragic. It makes it hard for me to like her. Also, she's ridiculously passive. She's reacting, not pro-active. I hope that changes.
